Trust in science, a generational comparison

Where trust in science parts between generations is examined comparatively, with one and the same question set. The round is run under the framework of the first institutional trust round.

Purpose and scope

  • Trust in science and in expertise is broken down by generation, and it is tested whether the split follows the question or the group. Findings are kept comparable with the institutional trust measurement.

  • The same question set is repeated across generation groups; groups and weighting are set out in the method annex. The field schedule is announced after the first round.

    The questionnaire and the instrument are fixed in writing before the field, in line with the measurement framework.

    Fieldwork is carried out under the published protocol; records are anonymised at the moment of collection.

    Findings are calculated together with their margin of uncertainty; perceived and measured values are placed side by side.
