Openness to misinformation
The reach of misinformation and the reach of its correction are measured separately. The gap between the two is reported as the perception gap of the information environment.
Purpose and scope
Which statements are held to be true, and whom a correction reaches, is measured. The measurement passes no verdict of its own: it is limited to statements that can be checked against a record.
The pool of statements is limited to propositions that rest on published records, and the pool is published before the field. Country, population and sample are set out in the method annex.

Four steps; the output of each step enters the record.

Design
The questionnaire and the instrument are fixed in writing before the field, in line with the measurement framework.

Field
Fieldwork is carried out under the published protocol; records are anonymised at the moment of collection.

Analysis
Findings are calculated together with their margin of uncertainty; perceived and measured values are placed side by side.

Publication
The round report, the method annex and the aggregated data are published together in open access.
