Institutional trust, first round
The first measurement round on trust in institutions, in science and in the media. The distance between what the public believes and what the records show is measured against the published measurement framework.
Purpose and scope
How far a society trusts its institutions, science and the media, and how that trust moves between generations, is measured. The perceived level of trust is reported next to the measured level.
Country and population are set out in the method annex, together with the sample. Questions and instrument are fixed before the field, in line with the published measurement framework.

Four steps; the output of each step enters the record.

Design
The questionnaire and the instrument are fixed in writing before the field, in line with the measurement framework.

Field
Fieldwork is carried out under the published protocol; records are anonymised at the moment of collection.

Analysis
Findings are calculated together with their margin of uncertainty; perceived and measured values are placed side by side.

Publication
The round report, the method annex and the aggregated data are published together in open access.
